Our curriculum has been modernized to respond to this demanding world. To prepare students for the future, the curriculum was designed to be student-centred and flexible, and maintain a focus on literacy and numeracy, while supporting deeper learning. It provides greater flexibility for teachers, while allowing space and time for students to develop their skills and explore their passions and interests. The deep understanding and application of knowledge is at the centre of the model as opposed to the memory and recall of facts that previously shaped education around the globe for many decades. All areas of learning are based on a “Know-Do-Understand” framework to support a concept-based competency-driven approach to learning.
A focus for this curriculum transformation is a model that enables and supports increasingly personalized learning, through quality teaching and learning, flexibility and choice, and high standards. |
The curriculum page explores the curricular competencies, big ideas and the content for each of our subject areas. The curricular competencies are broken up into criteria and categories for assessment and the elaborations toggle provides a more detailed information, essential questions and applicable content for each grade level. |
