The Grade 10 Numeracy Assessment is a provincial assessment that assesses student proficiency in numeracy. It is a graduation requirement and students take the assessment in their Grade 10 year. The Numeracy Assessment focuses on the application of mathematical concepts learned across multiple subjects from kindergarten to Grade 10. It requires students to solve problems by using five numeracy processes (different ways of thinking and working): interpret, apply, solve, analyze and communicate.
The Numeracy assessment is delivered online in 3 sections: the common section, where students answer questions on four different tasks; the student choice section where students will choose to out of four available questions and complete written-responses on paper detailing solutions, explanations and assumptions; and a self reflection section where students reflect on their experience and learning.

Opportunities for Practice
Students who have experiences applying and discussing math concepts in meaningful contexts will be more prepared for the types of questions they will encounter on the Graduation Numeracy Assessment. There are many resources available to support students with the competencies needed to be successful on this assessment.
