The Mid-Year Communication of Progress is a requirement for all K to 7 students.

- Includes a formal Point of Progress for Literacy and Numeracy that includes all of the required elements (strength-based comment, proficiency scale, student evidence)
- Provides a Student Engagement comment
- Indicates where and when students completed the self-assessment on all three categories of the Core Competencies

8 and 9 Mid-Course Communication of Progress
Secondary teachers must communicate student growth and progress in each area of learning during the semester, however, they have a choice to complete this requirement in MyEdBC or through using a Digital Portfolio.

MyEdBC
Required for all areas of learning in each semester. Teachers are encouraged to communicate with parents in a regular, timely, and authentic manner beyond this requirement.

Summary of Progress in MyEdBC
The Summary of Progress is a written report completed in MyEdBC on student progress in relation to the learning standards in all areas of learning. It is provided to caregivers at the end of the year in elementary, at the end of the course for secondary, or when a student changes schools or districts. This forms part of the student's permanent record.

- Indicates student level of performance as per the Provincial Proficiency Scale
- Provides a Student Engagement comment

Goals for the Summary Report:
- Clear communication with parents about student progress throughout the year on the curriculum standards and big ideas
- It is not an average of student performance, but where the student has progressed to by the end of the year or course
- Identifies what the student can do, what they are working on, and next steps for learning
- May include information on ways to support the student at school and at home
