September is Ukrainian Heritage Month in Canada. Canada is home to more than 1.3 million Ukrainian Canadians and they have left and continue to leave a historic mark on Canada, with contributions that span communities across the country and are reflected in Canada’s economic, political, social and cultural life. The first Ukrainians arrived in Canada in 1891 with 150 000 estimated to have come to Canada between 1891 and 1914. In the last year, School District 22 has welcomed approximately 30 new families from the Ukraine.
The following links embedded within the pictures below offer various information and resources to further explore Ukrainian Canadians as we celebrate Ukrainian Heritage Month.
