This workshop focuses on the unique language and vocabulary development needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) learners. Participants will examine how hearing differences impact language access, vocabulary growth, and literacy skills. Through discussion and hands-on activities, the workshop highlights strategies to strengthen receptive and expressive language, incorporating visual supports, explicit instruction, and multimodal communication approaches. Attendees will explore practical language-building activities that can be easily integrated into daily instruction and routines to enhance comprehension and expression. By the end, participants will gain tools to foster meaningful communication, expand vocabulary, and support lifelong language development for DHH students.
