The SD22 Inclusive Education Department exists to ensure equitable access to learning and opportunities to achieve the goals of their educational programming.

We believe:

• all students, regardless of their intellectual, social and emotional abilities are valued members of the school community.
• an individual's educational program should be based on strengths and needs rather than labels or funding categories.
• the ‘principles of learning’ apply to all students. These principles include:
  • Learning requires the active participation of the learner.
  • People learn in a variety of ways and at different rates.
  • Learning is both an individual and social process.

	This free set of short, engaging modules focuses on supporting educators in creating inclusive classrooms.  There is also a set of modules designed to help educators better understand and support their students with Autism.
	This resource, provided by Alberta Education, provides teachers with brief explanations of a variety of different diagnoses. The resource also provided some key strategies that can be used to support students in their classrooms.
