syilx Learning Series #1: The Four Food Chiefs

This session will focus on the syilx-Okanagan story, ‘How Food Was Given’, and the four Food Chiefs. Participants will; • build on their own understanding of captikwl (syilx-Okanagan stories) and the Four Food Chiefs • explore several classroom activities including nsyilxcn lessons, literacy-focused activities, hands-on / experiential learning, and land-based learning. • explore related mixed media resources including the children’s book, ‘Neekna and Chemai’, a story set in the Okanagan during pre-contact times that follows two young syilx girls through the four seasons.
