The Core French program is meant to foster an appreciation of learning languages, deepen students’ understanding of their first language and of their own cultural identity, as well as expand their understanding of their first language and of their own cultural identity. This first workshop will look at ways that we introduce the French language to students in an engaging and meaningful way so that they learn to love learning French as a second/additional language. It can be challenging to teach Core French if you have limited French skills! Come to this workshop to learn some strategies and leave with free resources that can help you teach French so that your students can develop a loveof learning languages while playing games and developing their skills. During May’s second session, we will work with Core French 5–12 teachers to collaboratively build a coherent program that aims to achieve the abovementioned goals. By connecting and deepening our understanding of what elementary and secondary teachers are doing to promote and develop students’ language skills, participants will identify areas of alignment, continuity, and growth across grade levels. This shared work will support intentional planning, strengthen transitions, and help ensure a more consistent and meaningful Core French learning experience for students from Grades 5 to 12.
